The University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer.

The primary function of the position is to be an Athletic Trainer of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Athletics Sports Medicine team in the implementation of all aspects of the athletic training program in support of 15 intercollegiate athletic teams. This will be a 10 month position at approximately 32 hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in athletic training
  • Certification by the National Athletic Trainer’s Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
  • Eligible for licensure in the state of Wisconsin.
  • Certified for CPR/AED

Preferred:

  • 1 year experience in a collegiate athletics environment

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

 

 

Sports Medicine:

  • Serve as the primary athletic trainer for designated athletics teams. Assist in the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries encountered in competitive athletics; observe, diagnose injuries and assign various therapy training to the patient; consult Head Athletic Trainer on long-term treatments or refer to physician if injury is beyond scope of the athletic training area.
  • Maintain complete and accurate, confidential, medical-related records and related paperwork on student-athlete injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation for insurance, legal and/or professional purposes.
  • Prepare practice and competition sites for emergency treatment and safety measures. Monitor environmental conditions, playing fields and courts, and athletic equipment to insure safety of student-athletes during practice and competition.
  • Communicate and work cooperatively with assigned sport and strength and conditioning coaches regarding student-athlete welfare such as daily injury reports, musculoskeletal examinations, and safety and recommendations. Attend departmental meetings as required.
  • Maintain athletic training room area in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition.
  • Comply with policies and rules of the NCAA, UW-Parkside, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and the UW System.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or Head Athletic Trainer.
