The English Department at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applicants for a one-year full-time Lecturer in Professional Writing. This position is a fixed term terminal appointment with no intent to renew. The lecturer will have a teaching load of 30 credits per year of college level writing, both freshman composition and other levels.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses, advising undergraduate students; service activities to the department and university; and working collaboratively with the University Community. Working with diverse populations and non-traditional students is essential for this position.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Master’s degree in English, Technical Writing or Communication, Professional Writing or Communication, or a related discipline from an accredited university

• A good record of teaching college level writing, both freshman composition and other levels

• Expertise in Technical Writing, Business Writing, Professional Editing, Grant Writing or other professional writing areas

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Demonstrated expertise as an instructor based on evidence of teaching effectiveness

Preferred:

• Demonstrated experience working effectively with students and staff from culturally diverse backgrounds.
