The Criminal Justice Department at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside seeks applicants for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice, scheduled to start in the 2017-2018 academic year.
- Ph.D. in criminal justice, criminology, or closely related field. A law degree (JD) only is not appropriate for this position.
- Strong commitment to teaching
- Teaching experience at a college/university level
- Required expertise are police, criminal procedure, criminal law, and/or research methods
- Experience with a variety of teaching methods and/or curricular perspectives
- Experience interacting with a diverse and multicultural population
- At the assistant professor rank, an ABD will be considered for a one-year Lecturer with conversion to a tenure-track Assistant Professor if all requirements for the degree have been successfully completed by March 1, 2018
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Excellent communication skills
- Interest in teaching a diverse student population
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Primary responsibilities include: teaching, scholarly research, advising students majoring in Criminal Justice, and participating in departmental/campus/community/professional service.
- The incumbent will have a teaching load of 24 credits per academic year in the core courses of the Criminal Justice major and minor, and in upper division electives. The candidate is expected to establish and maintain an active research program involving undergraduate students.
