Assistant Professor in Educator Preparation

UW-Parkside announces a full time tenure track, Assistant Professor position starting the 2014-2015 academic year. In the 2013-2014 academic year, the University launched a collaboratively designed, regionally responsive, and clinically-focused educator preparation program.The program design is based on the recommendations of the NCATE/CAEP Blue Ribbon Panel of Clinical Preparation and Partnerships for Improved Student Learning (NCATE, 2010).

  • Responsibilities include teaching courses in the Institute; advising undergraduate students; supervision of field experiences and directed teaching in the program; and working collaboratively with the Institute staff, Educator Preparation Executive Committee and advisory board. Working with diverse populations and non-traditional students is essential for this position.The position requires service to the profession, university and local community, including supporting the Educator Learning Community and mentoring students with a strong focus on the clinical program and the schools and community groups supporting those placements. The successful candidate may be required to teach online and hybrid courses and/or weekend and evening classes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Psychology or related field with emphasis on teacher education; specialization in one or more of the following: math education, science education, special education, developmental learning and practice or learning design and assessment
  • Experience working collaboratively with university colleagues, PK-12 faculty and community partners
  • Commitment to the preparation of educators for diverse contexts
  • Ability to teach a variety of courses in teacher education
  • At least 3 years of experience teaching in PreK-12 settings


Preferred Qualifications
:

  • Understanding of best practices and current research in teaching and learning including assessment of educator candidates
  • Experience supervising students in clinical placements
  • Commitment to self-evaluation, reflection and development
  • Familiarity with the requirements of teacher licensure and the edTPA
