Opera Workshop

Ami Bouterse - Director

UW-Parkside Opera under the leadership of Associate Professor, Ami Bouterse, offers a yearly opera workshop production. Any Parkside student who displays the appropriate talent and level of commitment may participate. 

Students must audition to be selected for this upper level course. Additional rehearsals outside of class time are required. 

Productions have included original outreach productions such as The Magical Opera Room and more traditional fare like Hansel and Gretel. More modern or lighter works such as The Old Maid and the Thief or The Pirates of Penzance have also been featured. 

UW-Parkside Opera maintains a special partnership with Milwaukee Opera Theatre that gives current or recently graduated voice majors performance opportunities as apprentice artists. Qualifying students must have participated in Opera Workshop and are selected based on talent, reliability and needs of the MOT season.
