The University of Wisconsin Parkside currently has two vacancies for Power Plant Operators – Primarily 3rd shift (11pm-7am) with occasional 1st shift(7am-3pm) and 2nd shift (3pm – 11pm) hours of work.

These are classified, full-time, non-represented positions. Job Announcement Code(s): 14-04334

Job Duties: This position is in a large and highly complex Heating & Chilling Plant. Under the general supervision of the Power Plant Superintendent, the Power Plant Operator-Senior is solely responsible for the following: total operation and maintenance of the entire plant in a safe and efficient manner, assistance in emergency situations, emergency repairs, and performance of any other duties associated with the operation of a complex heating and chilling plant. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Qualified candidates are required to have knowledge of emergency heating and chilling plant procedures and reactions; will have the ability to learn and perform essential job functions safely; will have the ability to deal with stressful situations; and will currently possess, or obtain, and maintain ASOPE Third Class Power Plant Operating Engineer License or approved equivalent. Salary: Pay will be based on the rules that apply to compensation upon transfer, reinstatement or voluntary demotion transactions. Pay will not be less than the minimum of the 03-15 pay range, $19.298/hour. A six month permissive probation period may be required.
